And you’ve heard him say people should be allowed to choose who they love, and love is love. So, when it comes to his comments, as you know, we are very clear about the Fed having their independence and respecting that independence. As we know, prior Presidents have — have not made that — made that clear. And it was — it was not something that they — they did — many of them did not do.So, we want to give the Fed the space to do the work that they — they need. They have the best monetary tools to deal with inflation. Our economic team continues to believe that thanks to the President’s economic team and his economic plan, we can bring inflation down without giving up the historic gains that we have made.
Statement of President Joe Biden on the Passing of U.S. Congressman Donald Payne Jr.
Jean-Pierre told The Haitian Times she was thinking about her daughter and the future of the country when she decided to join Biden's 2020 campaign. "No, not at all. I just worked hard towards it," she told reporters when her appointment was announced. "But I understand how hard it is. I do. We all do. But just keep working hard towards it."
In Howard Stern interview, Biden says he's 'happy' to debate Trump
And that’s what we’ve seen from Republicans continuing — like, when they put out their budget recently, that’s what they’re doing. We heard from the former President, who said, “Don’t move forward.” He told Republicans to reject it. We need that bipartisan border security n- — bill — or the negotiation that came together on that, and we have to move forward with it.
She’s a Democratic political strategist.
And, you know, we are insisting that that happen, in addition to ensuring the safety and protection of the people of Rafah. So, sort of setting aside the question of Rafah for the moment, which is a hard question to set aside, there’s going to be a significant amount of humanitarian activity in Khan Younis regardless, as there can and should be in Gaza City as well as we get more aid to the north. So, you put all that together and I think the calculus of the Russians or the critics of Ukraine who say, “Time is on Russia’s side” — they’ve got it wrong. We believe that the structural dynamics of this conflict favor the country defending its own territory.
A Proclamation on National Small Business Week, 2024
And we just saw the President in Bay City, Michigan, where he talked about the manufacturing jobs, bringing — bringing jobs back to the count- — to the country because of the CHIPS and Science Act, right? Seven hundred — more than 700,000 manufacturing jobs that have been created in this President’s administration because of the work that he’s done. The President is very proud of the work that Congress is doing — doing this in a bipartisan way — to deal with an issue that he has fought on for many years.
And we’ve been consistent here throughout this administration. The President has been consistent about it, obviously, since 2017, but even before that, when he saw what happened in Charlottesville. So, I think Columbia is going to have to speak to their personnel issues. And what we will speak to is, more broadly, what we expect and what we want to see and how painful it is for many communities here.
Karine Jean-Pierre will become White House's 1st Black press secretary
White House staffers appear doubtful that Dunn’s efforts will be successful, as Jean-Pierre appears willing to stay “come hell or high water,” according to the Post. Staffers believe Jean-Pierre relies too heavily on notes from the binder and lacks understanding of the issues at hand despite believing she is doing “an amazing job,” a source told the Post. "While I've thrived on the energy from covering breaking news and politics, the rhythm of my life has shifted to the more personal," Malveaux wrote in a memo obtained by Deadline at the time.
Who Speaks for the President? Depends on Whom You Ask.
Our economy has added 10 million jobs, and unemployment is near a 50-year low. In addition to the elevation of Jean-Pierre, the White House announced long-time Biden adviser Anita Dunn will return as a senior adviser and assistant to the president. She briefly left the administration last summer to work at the consulting firm SKDK, but didn't stay away long. Ms. Psaki’s last day as press secretary will be May 13.
Greene embraced an array of conspiracy theories before winning election, such as in November 2018 when she talked about the 9/11 terrorist attacks, referring to a “so-called” plane that crashed into the Pentagon. She also “liked” a January 2019 Facebook post that called for “a bullet to the head” of Pelosi. Economists have warned that if the White House and Congress can’t reach a deal by June, a global financial crisis could follow. The federal government is on the brink of hitting its legal borrowing limit on Thursday. In response, the Treasury Department plans to launch “extraordinary measures” to avoid a default. As the clock ticks down to the nation’s debt ceiling deadline, the White House on Wednesday urged Republicans in Congress to work with President Joe Biden to avoid a potentially dangerous default.
So, we’re going to continue to do that forcefully, condemn antisemitism from this administration. We’re implementing, as you know, the — the first-ever National Strategic Effort to Counter Antisemitism because there should be no place in this country in — when it relates to that type of hate. But this really is something that we take care to separate from politics, to separate from, you know, decisions taken at the White House. It is a State Department analysis with a State Department outcome. And they can speak to what is going to happen at the time that they’re ready to speak to it.
Jean-Pierre, who made history in May 2022 as the first Black and openly gay White House press secretary, revealed in a new interview with Vogue that she and Malveaux, a former CNN anchor and White House correspondent, had separated. Psaki is being succeeded by her deputy, Karine Jean-Pierre, who now becomes the first Black and openly gay woman to hold the job. She's leaving the podium after 244 briefings sparring with reporters.
Now, as we were working day in, day out to get this bill passed, President Biden was also working with President Zelenskyy to talk through how President Zelenskyy was thinking about the issue of mobilization and getting enough forces forward to the fight. I expect we will get together in person relatively soon, but we don’t have a date circled on the calendar right now. Q And then really quickly on the in-person talks that were scheduled to happen. I know you guys have been meeting virtually with Israeli counterparts. And, frankly, for those people — innocent civilians — who are not in Rafah, they too need and deserve shelter, support, food, medicine, and everything else.
But it has increasingly relied on John Kirby, a longtime Washington hand, to spread its message. House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy said talks should begin immediately on the massive spending cuts Republicans are seeking in exchange for raising the debt limit, but the Biden administration has equated that demand to holding the U.S. economy hostage. But those around her say she’s equipped for the job. "Jill and I have known and respected Karine a long time and she will be a strong voice speaking for me and this administration," Biden said in his May 5 statement. Jean-Pierre, who had served as Psaki's chief deputy, is the first Black woman and first openly LGBTQ person to hold the top position. And that work has created — has been able to create 10 million jobs in this administration.
So, from our perspective, now that we’ve resolved our readiness concerns, being able to step up and provide our own capabilities to Ukraine, as partners of ours have — the UK, the French, others — we think it’s appropriate to do at this moment. We think it is a good capability in this phase of the conflict for Ukraine, and we will stand behind that four-square. So, we think it’s good that we’re able to provide them, but I don’t expect to stand before you and say one capability has — has been the silver bullet in this conflict. Russia is going to continue to press its attacks against Ukrainian defenses. But for the reasons that I have laid out, over time, we assess that Ukraine’s position in this conflict will improve, and we believe that Ukraine can and will win.
A separate source said Jean-Pierre does not fulfill the “level of work” necessary to prepare for the briefings, the Post reported. “There’s a huge diversity issue and they’re afraid of what folks are going to say,” a source told the Post. “There were a number of people she asked to engage Karine,” a source told the Post. Since taking over the role in May 2022, she’s made several concerted efforts to use her platform to shed light on the LGBTQ+ community.
Achieve this through skillful partitioning or strategic unification of text and objects. Also, to prevent infection, the patients themselves must participate in infection control measures [6]. In the fieldwork stage, 12 nurses with more than 7 years of clinical experience participated in the interviews. All interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analysed by marking the important or meaningful parts. The interviews were conducted from December 8, 2021, to December 19, 2021, lasting between 96 and 115 min.

This will help us understand continuation, and you may probably recognize it right away as something that has struck you several times before. For our grand finale, let’s insert some rectangles, maybe 4-5, increasing the size a bit so they’re noticeably different from the squares.... But on a tablet, this separation can’t hold, so “Search” appears to be part of the main navigation; it was raised and grouped with other utility-menu items.
Tips and Techniques for Applying Proximity in Graphic Design
In particular, Gestalt theorists and researchers attempt to understand visual perception in terms of the way the underlying processes are organized to help us make sense of the world. In web and interactive design, the similarity law can be used to contribute to building connections between linked elements. You can make the most of this natural human inclination by helping your user’s eye to discern parts of your design you want to accentuate. The human eye tends to perceive similar elements in a design as a complete picture, shape, or group, even if those elements are separated.
Journal of Medical Internet Research
Ensure that every element aligns with the proximity principle and serves the overall goal of your project. Once satisfied with the cohesiveness and clarity of your design, it's time to prepare it for its final application, be it in print, digital, or any other format. When delving into design, it's vital to contemplate what is proximity in the principles of design. Essentially, this principle revolves around effectively communicating your message. Consider the following advice while tailoring the design to suit your specific requirements.
Harvard social enterprise, policy reform in Myanmar - Harvard Magazine
Harvard social enterprise, policy reform in Myanmar.
In the context of what is proximity in art, it involves the arrangement of visual components in a way that establishes a relationship between them. Understanding the role of proximity is crucial in enhancing the viewer's ability to navigate and appreciate different design mediums effectively. Interestingly, 2 additional analyses of the semiotic square improve our vision of social representations of telehealth, one based on a vertical reading and the other based on a horizontal reading. Interestingly, social representations constitute a structure explaining behaviors that result not only from an individual cognitive process but also from social and cultural representations and that are shared collectively [36,37]. Social representations have been shown to be a significant indicator of attitudes [38,39]. However, social representations of patients have never been studied in the context of telehealth specifically.
Gestalt Principles – a Background
In addition, productivity tends to positively affect engagement and satisfaction, according to research published by the Association for Psychological Science. The three experiences—productivity, satisfaction and engagement—reinforce each other. You have proximity to the person you sit next to regularly when you’re in the office, but you can also have a sense of proximity with the colleague you’re on video calls with regularly or with whom you’re in close email contact. If you’re going to put them in order, then it makes sense to put them in order. But if you don’t want them in order, you may drop them into a grid and let people browse through them. Proximity is a matter of how close or far away things are from each other.
How to Use the Proximity Principle?
While many designers use proximity unconsciously in their designs, it can be a very helpful tool especially in complex screens where adding elements to group content adds too much visual distraction. The principle of proximity states that we perceive objects which are close to one another as a group. This is true even if the color, size, or shape of the objects differ. The only thing that changed is the distance between (or rather, proximity of) some of the circles. Proximity refers to the visual relationship between design elements (e.g., images, text, shapes).
If you don’t apply the principle of proximity well, the elements can work against your design. So, the context and content of the interface are vital to bear in mind when using proximity. For example, as far-away elements will seem to be unrelated, it’s easy for users to miss them if they have the majority of the elements clustered together. Gestalt psychology posits that the human mind perceives objects as organized wholes rather than disjointed parts. Proximity is a key factor in determining how these wholes are formed.
Especially in a business context, clear communication is always more important than flashiness or creativity. There are several proximity examples here, but the one I want to call your attention to is the bar graph at the top of the page. The designer added labels to the bars to help the reader do the math and see at a glance what the graph is saying.
Nurses are exposed to infections more than other occupational groups, so they need to be especially careful [57]. In particular, it is reported that nurses need to be careful about blood exposure to damaged skin or mucous membranes [58, 59]. It was found that the interview participants in the fieldwork stage of this study also experienced infection through skin wounds. Rebmann and Carrico [60] reflected on this importance and presented a list of nurses’ infection prevention capabilities as an occupational health factor, as done in our study. Thus, like the representations of perceived distance, the representations of nonproximity are also mostly negative.
Moreover, the principle of closure also comes into action among the list of similar items. From images to texts and navigation bars to web forms, the Proximity principle applies heavily to web design. When you group similar content together, it creates a seamless relationship between the elements and delivers a better visual experience to the viewer.
To confirm the structure of the concept of infection control competency in clinical nurses, EFA was performed using principal component analysis and orthogonal rotation. This methodological study developed a clinical nurse’s infection control competency measurement scale and tested the validity and reliability of the instrument. It was conducted according to the scale development guidelines presented by DeVellis [19]. From this perspective, the main issue behind social representations of proximity is related to an improvement of the functional proximity to telehealth.
These principles aim to show how complex scenes can be reduced to more simple shapes. They also aim to explain how the eyes perceive the shapes as a single, united form rather than the separate simpler elements involved. Gestalt language processing is a cognitive approach to understanding how our brain organizes and interprets language. It is based on Gestalt psychology, which underlines that the human mind perceives things as a whole rather than a collection of parts. According to Gestalt language processing, our brain organizes words and sentences into meaningful whole units rather than looking at them as individual words, which helps us understand and interpret the information we receive quickly.
It's important to find a balance between grouping related items and giving them enough space to breathe. By grouping related elements together, you can create a more cohesive and memorable logo. Our expertise stems from refining these skills across countless UI/UX projects. So, in this article, we're continuing our exploration of essential design principles. To confirm the stability of the scale, test-retest reliability must be ensured; however, this aspect was not verified in this study.
In any example of visual communication you’ve ever seen, the proximity principle is probably in use; that’s how fundamental it is to the practice of graphic design. But let’s take a close look at a few examples, so you can better understand how to use this principle in your work. The proximity principle can be used to improve the user experience by making the design more intuitive. By grouping related elements together, you can guide the user’s eye movement and make the information easier to understand.
WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden on Thursday named Karine Jean-Pierre as the new White House press secretary, succeeding Jen Psaki. Jean-Pierre will be the first Black woman and the first openly gay person to hold the position. This morning, you heard President Biden speak about the critical importance of the national security supplemental, which came to the President’s desk, as we said it would, with overwhelming bipartisan support from the U.S.
In Howard Stern interview, Biden says he's 'happy' to debate Trump
The White House attributes Mr. Kirby’s larger role to the flurry of international news and says he will brief less often once the Middle East crisis ebbs. But the perception in Washington that President Biden has allowed Mr. Kirby, who is white, to upstage a Black woman as the face of his White House has turned their double act into a third-rail subject. "I think if you are passionate about what you want to be or where you want to go and you work very hard to that goal, it will happen," she told reporters May 5. "And, yes, you’ll be knocked down and you’ll have some tough times. And it won’t be easy all the time, but the rewards are pretty amazing, especially if you stay true to yourself." Biden had asked Jean-Pierre in an Oval Office meeting that afternoon if she would serve as press secretary.
DC Area College Students Protest Gaza War at George Washington University Encampment
We believe that occupation and invasion saps the will and vitality of a nation over time. But you can also measure it just in terms of the — the wear and tear in places on a frontline unit who has to ration ammunition because they’re not getting the steady flows. But I think really what this weekend showed is that, at the end of the day, despite substantial effort by a lot of parties, including the Russians, to figure out a way to not have this bill pass, it has passed.
Support our journalism
A spokesperson for the White House denied that his interaction ever took place. Nearly a dozen Democrats and those working closely with the White House said they are unaware of the alleged plan to oust Jean-Pierre, according to the Post. These sources agreed Dunn does not appear to dislike or hold any hard feelings toward the press secretary.
Though already televised, the daily briefing gained new audiences, and the press secretary gained new stature. When President Bush’s approval ratings dropped in his second term, the White House underwent high-ranking staff changes, and Fleischer’s successor, Scott McClellan, was among the most visible departures. Snow—experienced as a White House staffer under Pres. George H.W. Bush and a well-known broadcast journalist and radio talk show host—was one of the first press secretaries to come to the job with established celebrity status and gravitas. In 2007 Dana Perino replaced Snow, becoming the second woman to serve as press secretary. Bill Clinton, whose administration made history with the appointment of the first female and youngest press secretary, Dee Dee Myers.
And again, what is so important right now is that we need to make sure that we avert a rail shutdown, and that’s what the President is calling on Congress to do. And it was because of the President’s action back in July — the unions asked him to constitute a presidential emergency board — a request they made because they knew, as a pro-union President, he would be able to get to a — an agreement, and he did. So, again, Congress must get a bill to the President’s desk this weekend to protect families and — from these potential devastating impacts. These are real-life, you know, changes and impacts that we can see here. This particular individual, I don’t have any information for you at this time.
Marlin Fitzwater served both Reagan and George H.W. Bush. Whereas Reagan was the “Great Communicator,” Bush was not as effective on television or in formal speeches. However, Bush possessed thorough knowledge of the issues and was comfortable in the briefing room.
And I think the message that that sends is that, at the end of the day, when push comes to shove, the United States is going to be there with the resources necessary for Ukraine. We also received a series of commitments from the Israeli government with respect to the facilitation of humanitarian assistance. Until recently, as we’ve said on many occasions, we were unable to provide these ATACMS because of readiness concerns. But behind the scenes, the administration across the board has worked relentlessly to address those concerns. We now have a significant number of ATACMS coming off the production line and entering U.S. stocks.
Eisenhower administration, James Hagerty, press secretary role evolves
He wants to protect Americans from coun- — a country, in this — in this instance, that wants to potentially do us harm. It’s — it’s a concern that majority of Americans have. And I think Mitch McConnell spoke for himself on that. It is important that — that communities feel safe and important that students feel safe.
Last time around, the railroads began refusing to transport automobiles about a week ahead of the shut — shutdown deadline. You know, this White House, this administration — on the Hill, you guys are rallying the economy as some are concerned about what the first quarter — the end of the first quarter could look like in 2023. But, look, there’s a number of provisions that we think will contribute to the growth of the clean energy sector globally, as I mentioned already, in the Inflation Reduction Act. And it presents significant opportunities for European firms as well as benefits to EU energy security.
I’ve stood at this podium numerous times and said, you know, the road may be full of twists and turns, I can’t predict exactly when it will happen, but I always had confidence it would happen. The unique demands of the job encouraged some presidents to appoint friends. Harry Truman, for example, selected lifelong friend Charlie Ross. Jimmy Carter brought his gubernatorial press secretary, Jody Powell, to Washington. Dwight D. Eisenhower asked former reporter James C. Hagerty to be his press secretary. During Hagerty’s tenure, which lasted eight years, he allowed the first televised press conference.
She took control after George Stephanopoulos, who began as Clinton’s de facto press secretary, misspoke on several occasions with the press. Myers, however, was at times prevented from accessing the president and members of his inner circle. Myers was succeeded by Mike McCurry, who was known for having repeatedly faced questions on Clinton’s personal life during the Monica Lewinsky scandal. When reporters demanded personal information, McCurry steered clear of internal meetings on the matter so he could fulfill his job without deceiving the press or damaging the president. Hagerty remained press secretary for eight years, still the record for longest time served in that position. Eisenhower grew to trust Hagerty to such a degree that the role of press secretary was elevated to that of a senior advisor to the president.

As it happens, Mountain House is a few miles from Clifton Court Forebay, which holds water deliveries to Southern California and the San Joaquin Valley that have also been drastically cut this year. In Mountain House, lawns, shrubbery, parks and athletic fields are at risk, said Edwin Pattison, general manager of the Mountain House Community Services District. In addition to Mountain House, about 160 local farmers are affected by the curtailment order, Gilmore said. Without water, the area would lose almost 10,000 acres of almonds, cherries, sweet corn, grapes, tomatoes, walnuts and other crops, he said.

But “that’s the worst-case scenario,” Pattison added, saying that he believes he will be able to find another water supplier with older water rights that has water in storage that it can sell. The district will keep supplying water to the town “until we have had the opportunity to fully evaluate the curtailment notice,” said Gilmore, adding that it is also considering litigation to protect its water rights. The board can fine a water user $1,000 to $10,000 per day for violating the curtailment order or subsequent “cease and desist” orders issued by regulators. Mountain House learned of its precarious situation last week when the state water board announced the “senior rights” curtailment.

Regulators are slowly moving toward “a stage where there isn’t any water for anyone to take,” he said. If Pattison fails to find other water, the community and the irrigation district could negotiate with the water board to keep water flowing. Even if Mountain House can’t find a new supplier, the state could allow the local irrigation district to deliver just enough to maintain “health and safety” in the community, according to a letter from the State Water Resources Control Board. But now, an upscale master-planned community of 15,000 residents in San Joaquin County is facing the loss of all water supplies within days — prompting a frantic search for new sources. Acknowledging the New York Times 2008 article that branded Mountain House as the most underwater community in America, the article chronicled a grassroots commitment by residents to keep their neighborhoods looking well-kept by mowing neglected lawns of homes in foreclosure, short sales or abandoned. Mountain House was projected to be a small full-fledged city developed over a 30-year period by the Master Developer Trimark Communities.[7] The community covers 4,784 acres (1,936 ha) in San Joaquin County.
In the late 19th century, Thaddeus Lowe established the railroad just north of Los Angeles as a way for tourists to easily ascend the San Gabriel Mountains. The railway welcomed its first passengers on the Fourth of July in 1893. Then, in the fall of 1894, the Echo Mountain House, located at the summit, opened its doors. It was a luxury hotel said to rival San Diego’s Hotel del Coronado, with 80 rooms as well as amenities such as a dance hall, a casino, and a zoo. There was also a telescope and observatory as Lowe was very interested in astronomy and even brought on esteemed astronomer Dr. Lewis Swift, who would discover nearly 100 nebulae from the site’s observatory.

A notice issued by the water board commanded the Byron Bethany Irrigation District to “immediately stop diverting water.” It gave the district seven days to submit a compliance form. When the state last week took the rare step of curtailing the water rights of more than 100 irrigation districts and growers, it appeared that agricultural areas would be the hardest hit. Diners will be surprised by the Yibin-style ran noodles, also known as burning noodles, which are chewy, dry noodles that are flavorful, spicy, and salty from cardamine bean sprouts and roasted nut powder. The name “burning noodles” comes from the fact that traditional cooking methods add lard and chile oil to the noodles, which can be ignited without the use of water. In decades prior, people would light up the noodle as a wick for kerosene lamps. The fact that the water board decided to curtail some of the oldest water rights in California shows just how severe the drought has become, Thompson said.

The hotel is just a five-minute walk from the National Stadium skytrain station, which gives easy access without traffic to the rest of the city. As the hotel is slightly west of the main hotel zone, prices are a good value and one feels a bit off the tourist grid here. The only drawback to the location is that rush hour traffic in this neighborhood is atrocious.

The CRUISEFLASK Kit is perfect for sneaking your liquor onto any cruise ship inside your luggage. They’re very durable, leak-proof, puncture-resistant, and BPA-FREE! The non-metallic material makes them undetectable by scanners and metal detectors. They’re specially designed to pass through screening without being noticed, making them the ideal hidden flask for a cruise. And drinks are expensive on a cruise ship, and that means alcohol on a cruise can end up costing a lot. If you're contemplating how to bring alcohol on a cruise without arousing suspicion, this hairbrush might be just the thing.
Holland America Line
Most cruise line policies strictly forbid passengers from bringing any alcohol back to the ship from port. This means alcohol, including beer, is technically not permitted to be brought back on the cruise. Usually, the wine glasses delivered to your room are the same glasses being used in the bars and dining room.
Wine handbag
The security agents are like bloodhounds trying to sniff out liquor, so don’t try it. In order to stay within the rules, consider sneaking alcohol onboard in creative ways. If you think that someone has had too much to drink, don’t hesitate to seek assistance from cruise ship staff members who are there specifically for this purpose.
Where to hide alcohol when you check in
Note that some cruise lines discount drink packages if you buy them online in advance of sailing, and others offer periodic sales on their drink packages online. More elaborate (and expensive) tiers will add alcoholic and nonalcoholic cocktails, wine, beer and specialty coffee drinks. In some cases, there will be more than one tier of such all-encompassing plans. Each cruise drink package varies on exactly what alcohol is included.
These events are usually charged by the pour, not by the person. Often with cocktail or martini tasting they give about 4-6 ounces tasting, which is a half-sized cocktail. So that’s an okay-ish value, equating to 2.5 cocktails for $25.
So expect to spend about $12 to $16.50 per beverage when gratuity is added. Underage drinking is taken seriously, and cruise ship staff have the right to disembark both the minor and the adult who bought them a drink if they're caught. To find out your cruise ship's restrictions, see our story on cruise line alcohol policies.
Legally Bring Your Own Wine on a Cruise
The other issue with reusing old bottles is they are much more likely to leak. The couple below successfully smuggled their rum runners onto a Carnival Cruise. Duty-free shops typically have great deals (along with free tastings). For example, they offer promotions like 20% off two bottles of whiskey, or two bottles of limoncello for $20. Even if you're not interested in purchasing artwork as a souvenir from your adventure on the high seas, it's still fun to attend the art auctions when they're available on the ship. Princess Cruises hosts events with land-based Park West Gallery that include live auctions, prizes — and free sparkling wine.
The exception to this is if you’re visiting a cruise line’s private island. An additional bonus to the daily drink specials is that you may even get a souvenir cup which can entail even further discounts when getting a refill. The drink of the day is usually outlined in the daily cruise newsletter. That $53 will yield at least 16 delicious gin & tonics that can be made and enjoyed right from the comfort of the stateroom throughout the entire cruise. These tasting events aren’t just good value, you get to try a variety of different cocktails you may have never thought to try before.
How to Sneak Alcohol on a Cruise Ship
You don’t want to contaminate your alcohol with any remnants you inadvertently missed after going through all the trouble of smuggling your favorite liquor onboard. Finally, it’s worth considering what happens if you get caught sneaking alcohol on a cruise, so you know what you are risking. Some other options for specialty dining also have beverage perks.
Why Unlimited Drink Packages on Cruise Ships Aren't Worth It - FUN 107
Why Unlimited Drink Packages on Cruise Ships Aren't Worth It.
Also, if you happen to be in port on the final day of a cruise itinerary, most cruise ships will actually permit you to bring any liquor purchases right back on board with you. Just walk right on and put that bottle through the X-ray machine. But again, this tends to only be allowed when bringing liquor back aboard a cruise that has a port call on the final day of a cruise itinerary. Additionally, any alcohol purchased while in port will also be delivered to your stateroom on the final day of your cruise. So don’t hesitate to buy that delicious Jamaican rum or snag that bottle of tequila while docked in Cozumel.
Below is an example of the Holland America wine packages we found during a recent cruise. Those particular bottles were priced at $35-$40 individually. So you would save $20-$40 by purchasing this package instead of buying the wines individually. If you know, you’re definitely going to be drinking these wines, it certainly would prove advantageous to buy the wine package. Cruise loyalty members may also be invited to events with complimentary drinks and high-tiered members even get access to nightly complimentary happy hours on some cruise lines.
In this case, enjoy local drinks in port and perhaps forgo the cruise’s drink package. Still, cruise passengers have been known to sneak their own booze aboard cruises. We like to play by the rules and don’t particularly recommend sneaking liquor on a cruise ship. But we’d be remiss not to mention it as a strategy that passengers do use to achieve cheap drinks on a cruise. Usually, the wine allowance is one 750 ml bottle per person or two 750 ml bottles per stateroom.
